January update
In January we introduced Charity Partners at Wiper and True; an easy way to donate to great causes as you enjoy our beer. After a great first month we raised £244.95 for the brilliant Caring in Bristol, thanks to your generous donations through our online shop, buying pints of our Karma Keg at the Taproom, and online shop orders during our charity donation week. Thank you to every one of you who supported us in the first month of the initiative.
February Charity Partner: The MAZI Project
It's a new month and a new Charity Partner at Wiper and True. This month, we're delighted to be supporting the MAZI Project, a wonderful organisation working to tackle food poverty for Bristol's disadvantaged 18-25 year olds.
From care leavers, youth recovering from homelessness and young asylum seekers, The MAZI Project supports young people in our city living in supported accommodation. Many of the young people the organisation works with have struggled with instability and feeling excluded. Coming from war-torn countries, unstable living situations and the care system, independent living can feel isolating. For many of these young people the food they eat is predetermined by their background, which is what MAZI are working to change. Using the power of food, MAZI want to include young people who have faced hardship in Bristol’s conversations about food. They work provide opportunities to access Bristol’s independent restaurants and have the choice to experience sustainable and tasty food the way they choose to. You can read more about their work here, and find information on how to help us raise money below.
Speaking about partnering with our brewery, MAZI's founder Melanie said:
"Wiper and True's generous offer to raise funds for us will help The MAZI Project empower and nourish our city's disadvantaged young people. The money raised will go towards our weekly delivery of our aMAZIng Meal Boxes which include up to 3 tasty recipes CHOSEN by each of our recipients. It will help connect marginalised young people to Bristol's independent food scene and reduce isolation for those who have been hit hardest during the pandemic. By supporting W&T fundraising mission, you are ensuring young asylum seekers, care leavers, youth recovering from homelessness and fleeing domestic violence equal access to local, sustainable and tasty food."
How does the Charity Partner programme work?
Each month, the Wiper and True team choose a charity to partner with. All of our fundraising efforts that month will raise money for this charity or cause.
How do you raise money for the charities?
Each month we will be raising money by three methods:
- We donate: we will donate £1 from every order on our online shop for a certain time period in a month - usually a week or weekend at a time. This doesn't cost you anything extra - we make the donation on your behalf. We will let you know when this is happening each month, via our social media channels.
- Karma Keg: each month at our Bristol Taproom we will choose a designated 'Karma Keg'. Usually an exciting new release, we'll donate 100% of the profits from this keg to our chosen charity. We will mark the chosen Karma Keg clearly on our beer menus. All you have to do is order a pint!
- You donate: you may have noticed the option to add an additional charity donation when checking out an order on our online shop. We'll collect these additional donations for our chosen charity for a whole month, then make a lump sum donation at the end of the month.
And that's it! We're really looking forward to another month of fundraising for the excellent MAZI Project. We hope some of you will join us at the Taproom this weekend to help us drain our next Karma Keg dry - it's a brand new beer so you'll not only be helping us raise money, but getting an exclusive first taster. We'll also be hosting a 'Driver Drive', collecting details of anyone interested in volunteering as a driver for MAZI - speak to our team to add your details to the list!
