Ventnor Fringe

What is Ventnor Fringe?

Set in the stunning hilltop town of Ventnor on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight, Ventnor Fringe is a one-of-a-kind arts festival that transforms the town into a wonderland of music, theatre, comedy, cabaret, and more.

Over the course of the festival, more than 300 artists from around the world will take over repurposed launderettes, historic chapels, secret bars, and more; offering everything from improvised hip hop in unexpected places to late-night cabaret in candlelit venues. With a mix of ticketed performances and free events, there’s something for everyone.

Ventnor Fringe Festival

Where & When?

Dates: Friday 18th - Sunday 27th July 2025
Venues: Over 150 performances across Big Tops in Ventnor Park, secret chapels, a 1930s Parisian bus, vintage ‘kermis’ tents, underground bunkers, and even a dark shipping-container installation .

How did Ventnor Fringe start?

Ventnor Fringe began in 2010 as a bold DIY initiative by a group of local teenagers, inspired by the iconic Edinburgh Fringe and the Isle of Wight’s countercultural festival history. In fact, the impact of past Isle of Wight festivals was so great that music events were banned across the island until 2001! What started as a grassroots movement has since grown into the Isle of Wight’s largest arts festival.

Out of the Fringe came the Ventnor Exchange, now a year-round venue and cultural hub at the heart of the town’s creative community.

Why is it special?

Celebrating its 16th anniversary, Ventnor Fringe has become the Isle of Wight’s largest arts festival. It’s a melting pot of emerging and established artists showcasing avant-garde works, including new theatrical forms, intimate comedy sets, and immersive circus.

How are Wiper and True involved in the festival?

We are very excited to announce that a selection of our freshest beers will be pouring across the ten-day festival. Visitors will be able to enjoy the South West's freshest craft beers in cans in festival tents, at the Ventnor Exchange bar, and at pop-up venues across the town.

How to get to the Isle of Wight?

Located a short ferry ride away from Southampton (30 minutes) or Portsmouth (60 minutes), the Isle of Wight is easy as pie to travel to, without taking a plane ride.
