Small Business Love in the time of Coronavirus

The Wiper and True Can Kiosk

These are without doubt very unusual times.

Many of us are facing great uncertainty about the next few months, both in our personal and professional lives. In our corner of Bristol, we’ve seen friends and business owners face unprecedented challenges as the situation with Coronavirus evolves. However, we’ve also seen some truly phenomenal quick thinking and adaptation, as they evolve to face the new world we’re suddenly inhabiting.

To name a few local examples, the brilliant Cauldron Restaurant have opened a new dispensary, offering freshly cooked, nutritious ready meals and other supplies for at home. Next door, Popti & Beast are now offering pre-order and free local delivery to the Werburghs community. Over on St Michael’s Hill in Kingsdown, Psychopomp gin distillery have started producing and distributing hand sanitiser in exchange for charity donations, whilst the newly opened Cave on Gloucester Road are offering deliveries of delicious fine wines. Two Belly are offering provision boxes packed with locally sourced produce, whilst other restaurants including Squeezed and Wilsons are offering free meals to NHS staff, simply asking their supporters to make donations to cover their costs. These are just a few of examples of the innovations we’ve seen this week so far; we urge anybody who can to support these businesses in their hour of need.

Lots of Wiper and True drinkers have got in touch to ask how they can support us, which we really, truly appreciate. Although our tap room has now closed, we’ve been hard at work coming up with new ways to make it as easy as possible for you to enjoy our beer, wherever you live and whatever your social-distancing situation.

Please have a read, and if you can support us at this time, we’d really appreciate it. Even if you can’t help financially right now (we know things are getting tighter for a lot of you), please do share this blog around your friends and family – it really helps us spread the word that we’re still here, brewing delicious beers. Thank you.
