Wednesday 30th November, 7-9.30pm
Wiper and True Taproom, Old Market
Fancy dipping your toes into a new creative pursuit? Keen to learn a new skill in time for Christmas gifting season? Searching for a wholesome activity to chase the winter blues away? This beginner-friendly lino printing workshop might be right up your street.
- 2.5 hours of expert tutoring
- All equipment, materials and inks
- Your finished print and carved lino block, to take home
- 15% discount on drinks, all night long
During this two-and-a-half hour workshop, local print making legends Sonja and Luke of Blue Roll Press will be your expert teachers in all things lino printing. You'll be guided through all the steps needed to choose a design then carve and ink your own lino block, before learning two different printing techniques: one using a printing press, one using the intriguingly named 'spoon method'.
If you've already got an idea of what design you'd like to make, then do feel free to bring along any printouts you'd like to replicate. Alternatively, Luke and Sonja will bring a variety of design ideas and inspirations on the night, including a mixture of abstract designs, specific objects and even some of Wiper and True's own can designs, for the beer lovers. At the end of the night, you will take away your own hand-carved lino block (in case you'd like to make more prints at home), and any finished prints you created. You'll also be armed with an exciting new skill to continue exploring at home!
Please note that this lino printing is a hands-on, inky sort of activity; please wear clothes that you don't mind getting messy.
Your ticket also includes a 15% discount on all drinks at the bar, during the event and for the rest of the evening.
Our taproom is fully wheelchair accessible, with a dropped bar area, level floors throughout, and an accessible bathroom. If you have any questions around accessibility, please do get in touch.
Tickets & Refunds
We have worked hard to make this event as inclusive as possible, therefore three different ticket prices are available. The standard recommended ticket price for the evening is £30, however, if this feels inaccessible to you financially (no questions asked), please choose the £25 or £20 ticket options. There is also an option for a £40 ticket if you'd like to spend a little more. Whichever ticket you book, all money goes directly to local artists Sonja and Luke.
Tickets are limited, so don't delay booking. Refunds can only be given 14 days or more ahead of the event. You won't receive a physical ticket for this event and you don't need to print or bring anything; on the night we will print a digital guest list and sign you in.
Closer to the event, Luke & Sonja from Blue Roll Press may be in touch via email (using the email address under which you booked your ticket) with additional information about the event. Please keep an eye out, and don't worry: you won't be added to any additional mailing lists.
